Why?
What is Pedodontics?
Pedodontics (Pediatric dentistry) is the field of dentistry that deals with the dental health of children from birth to the maturation of the teeth. Pedodontics is a branch of science that deals with protecting the oral and dental health of children aged 0-13, eliminating problems caused by caries, trauma and genetic reasons, and also preventing problems that may develop later by detecting disorders in tooth-jaw development early.

Why is Early Treatment Important?
Having healthy milk teeth is very important for the child's nutrition and development. Decayed and infected teeth negatively affect general health and development as they are bacterial focus. At the same time, not being able to chew properly with rotten teeth and cavities causing pain during chewing cause the child not to be fed well. Extraction of decayed teeth before the age of fall also causes different problems. If the permanent teeth, which will come from the bottom of the milk tooth, are pulled out before the eruption time, the neighboring teeth will fall into this extraction space and narrow this space. When it is time to erupt, the permanent tooth cannot find a place because the place where it will erupt is covered by other teeth, and it erupts from a different place, most of the time crookedly. The eruption of teeth in inappropriate positions creates the need for orthodontic treatment. In order to avoid such a situation, the necessary treatments should be applied to the milk teeth in a timely manner and they should be kept in the mouth until the time of permanent tooth eruption. In cases where the treatment is very delayed and extraction is mandatory, applications called placeholders are made to prevent the neighboring teeth from slipping.

Children should be taken to dental check-ups at regular intervals at a young age. This situation is extremely important in terms of both following the mouth and jaw development of children and taking protective measures.
