IMPLANT

Implant

WHAT IS IMPLANT?

Implants are titanium screws placed in the jawbone. A dental prosthesis is placed on these screws. In implant treatment, adjacent teeth are not damaged. So the adjacent teeth do not need to be cut. The implant acts as a tooth root and you can eat, talk and laugh like a natural tooth.

Who Is Implant Applied To?

Implant treatment is applied to individuals who are over the age of 18 and have completed their jaw and face development. Before the treatment, whether the jaw structure is suitable for the implant is determined by X-rays. In diabetic patients, the disease should be regulated before treatment. In those who use blood thinners, the drugs are discontinued before the treatment. Those with osteoporosis can receive implant treatment after receiving appropriate treatment.

Implant Treatment Process

First of all, some images (panoramic x-ray, regional tomography) are taken from the patient in order to determine the thickness, width, density of the jawbone, and the gap and nerve passages close to the region.

The size and thickness of the implant is decided with the help of these images.

Two different techniques are generally followed for the placement of dental implants. In the process known as one-stage, after the implant is placed, the healing cap for the gingiva is also placed.

In this method, the healing head is visible in the implanted area after the operation. In this way, the healing process is expected.

In the other two-stage method, after the dental implant application, the area is covered with the gingiva. No part of the implant is visible from the outside during the healing process.

After the healing is completed and the implant is fused to the bone, the top of the implant is opened and the gingival healing cap is attached.

After the implant is placed, the process of fusion of the implant with the bone, called osseointegration, begins. In this process, the periphery of the implant is filled with new bone cells. The completion of this process takes approximately 3 months in the lower jaw and 5 months in the upper jaw. Temporary teeth can be made if the implanted area remains empty during the osseointegration process, causing discomfort to the patient in terms of aesthetics and function. After the completion of the process, the prosthesis is made.

The construction of implant-supported prostheses is completed in 7-10 days.
